Rethink the "About" pages

At the moment these pages mostly compare Git to SVN. That's no longer relevant, because Git has gained enough popularity. Rethink useful information to host there. Examples come to mind:

• Git hosting forges (and remove the logos from the landing page?)
• TBD

I discussed this with some folks today and came up with 4 ideas for information to put in the About section:

1. Git is fast.
2. Git is extremely widely used (perhaps with specific numbers, like how the 2023 Stack Overflow survey says that 93% of developers use Git)
3. A tiny bit about the history of Git: specifically that Git was created in 2005 by Linus Torvalds to use in the Linux kernel project. I think this is useful because (if you're familiar with the Linux kernel project) it tells you a lot about what values the Git project is likely to prioritize.
4. Maybe the relationship between Git and GitHub -- we all know that people often confuse Git and GitHub because (in my understanding) GitHub was so instrumental in making Git more popular. This needs a careful approach but I think it could be very helpful to people new to Git.

I think we could put all of these 4 points on one page, keep the "Free and Open Source" and "Trademark" pages, and delete the rest of the About section content which compares Git to Subversion.
