Text translated with Google Translate can be really raw

No Google Translate, it is using Deep translate which is using AI, modern. It can translate with over 98% accuracy, I believe.

Some translations, such as the German one, are actively maintained. Automated translation is not necessary there.

Edit:

Summary to "deep-translator library"

The deep-translator library uses Google Translate in the backend, so the quality depends directly on Google Translate. Here is a summary of the translation quality:

Overall quality

Google Translate achieves an average accuracy of 82.5%, with the accuracy rate varying greatly depending on the language pair – from 55% to 94% Centus

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths:

  • Google Translate performs particularly well with Arabic, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and Mandarin Chinese
  • Supports over 130 languages (significantly more than alternatives such as DeepL)
  • Well suited for simple texts and quick translations

Weaknesses:

  • DeepL outperforms Google Translate for certain European language pairs such as German, French, and Spanish Lokalise
  • Google Translate often struggles with more complex sentences and idiomatic expressions TranslatePress
  • Translations may be technically correct, but sometimes sound unnatural or lack context

Practical conclusion

The following applies to the deep-translator library with Google Translate:

  • Well suited for: Simple texts, UI elements, quick translations, non-European languages
  • Less suitable for: Professional/academic texts, marketing content, European languages (DeepL is often better here)
  • Important: Translations should always be checked by humans, especially for important content

The library is a solid tool for automatic translations, but don't expect perfect results – human post-editing is often recommended.

I don't think that's the right tool for the job, especially for the European languages.

Why not? There are still dozens of languages that could be translated into.

I see #15 as more of a long-standing discussion than an issue.

I agree with @mheob, the issue #15 is meant as a long standing discussion.
There was a lot of effort put to translate in other languages, and while the automated translation has high accuracy, it is not necessary here.
